Project Description
8119 Douglas is a Class A building completed in 2024 in University park, Texas. As the first in the area, a high-rise in the most coveted school district in Dallas, this property was destined to meet new criteria and raise the bar for ultra-luxury apartment rentals. With that, the design followed suit with refined detailing and a palette to impress.
As you arrive on the property you are immediately submersed in luxury with sky-high glazing and an exterior Limestone Façade. A quaint, private courtyard was developed by the design team in tandem with Landscape and architecture to enrich the arrival sequence as if one stepped onto a ritzy front porch of a single-family residence. The patio abuts a limewashed, double height lobby, adorned with tiered, art-deco style details that create the framework of the space. Double height Calcutta marble slabs comprised of four book-matched pieces are seen from all angels of the lobby. This striking backdrop plays perfectly with the soft color palette and tailored furnishings of the first floor.
As you move through the building, the antique mirror and oversized floral and focal table set the tone for the continued grandeur of the property. Elevators bathed in bronze and reflective materials carry you to cozy corridors with low level lighting which highlight the crisp white hallways and custom “deconstructed” tartan carpet, a nod to the historically traditional neighborhood. The residences dabble between light and dark wood grains and solid colors, rich in tone and contrasting. Fixture and hardware are all mixed metals to produce a bit more “livable” and “imperfect” palette where residents can furnish with any style of furnishing to complement their space.
As the crown jewel of the building, the rooftop lounge and pool bar exude another level of opulence with leathered black marble counters atop a poured terrazzo floor imbedded with “pearl and glass stones”. Wood paneling in a dark stained White oak wraps the room, the wine lockers and all the corridors on this level. A Lucite and brass chandelier centers the lounge and allows the views of the city to be seen from all angles. Leathers, velvets, boucle and silk rugs make up the fabrics for the swankiest seats in the city. The pool views and indoor-outdoor pool party opportunities are endless, creating another level of energy that flows from the moment you enter to the peak of the property. The design and architecture were seamlessly coordinated to ensure those transitions and next level experience.
